Song Background

This was the very first song ever written as a part of the Bañar album.  Oddly enough, I wrote the song before I could play even the simplest chords on the guitar.  I was searching for the saddest chords that could possibly be played… some sort of noise that only a dying whale could make.  Oh man were the chords I worked my way into difficult for me to play, and still are to this day.  But hey, God works in mysterious ways.  I wanted a sad, heart-breaking prayer, and that is exactly what he put into my mind.  

There are so many scriptures that come to mind when I think of this song.  The basic idea is pretty simple… how can one be sad or depressed when one comes to the realization that they are a child of the Most High God, our creator and maker-- the God of the Universe!

And further, how can anyone possibly think they can alter or change what God has made?  Oh son… don't you know who you are?

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

"(19) Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, (20) for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body."

 

Know Who You Are

Lord, I know You can hear me now, as I cry out in despair...
Only You can turn him around, and save him from this nightmare
