Song Background

This song was written as my cousin, Mark, was entering hospice suffering from cancer, heading into his last few days of life.  My dear Aunt was completely devasted… torn by the thought of losing her son-- especially after losing her youngest son to a tragic vehicle accident many years ago.  Mark had lived a hard life… filled with many struggles and trials.  But due to the powerful love of his Mom (my Aunt), he was brought to Christ!  While in my mind I knew Mark was saved by Christ, and had nothing to fear in death, I still found myself wondering what I will be praying one day as I near the point of final rest before seeing Christ.  Mark was in great pain during his last few days, and he spent his final hours praising God for his salvation.  Praise the Lord!  This song is dedicated to Mark, and his loving Mom.  The entire gospel message (John 3:16) can be summed up in the chorus of this song.  May Mark rest in peace as his soul is now in heaven…
